Impugnare la cara vecchia penna è più useful for learning to type symbols on the keyboard: it says a study by two scientists, Anne Mangen, and Jean-Luc Velay. They have enlisted a group of volunteers asked to write in an unknown alphabet, some other with the pen on the keyboard. Result: after a few weeks, the subjects who penned by hand sheets remembered best unknown symbols. But there's more: even Broca's area, involved in numerous processes of learning, it was more "excited" to pictures taken by MRI. The movements of the hand imprint, in fact, in the mind an image of "sensory-motor" that strengthens the memory. The study, published in Advances in haptics, is the rebuttal that "the size of the physical contact with the objects that surround us - the researchers say - is not neutral with respect to the quality and quantity of learning.
